      Thanks guys!
As much as I wanted an external drive I still did go for a (64GB) Micro SD (Samsung Evo+ as per benchmark).

I will be moving my Rpi in Nespi Case+ from downstairs to the bedroom quite often so portability is "everything" to me.

If that fails, put it on a filepath with no spaces.

@caver01 Don't know ... laugh or cry? That's really nasty on the NESPi case. I wanted my Rasperry setted in a new case, too. And then I realized the Pie was stuck caused by the SD.

I also have the same condition with the Pi 3B+ and NESPi+ case running most recent RetroPie 4.4 release. It seems to happen with all wireless dongles connected in to the NESPi case ports (wireless Keyboard, and Xbox 360 adapter for sure). I found a couple different threads in the forum about it and I believe they found the reason, https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/2408, and I believe they were working on a fix, but I have not seen the true fix anywhere.
(If anyone has it and a step-by-step, I'd be grateful)

**I did find a temporary workaround though, without having to revert to previous Pi versions-
Use another USB hub (like a laptop 4-port) to connect to the NESPi case, and then connect your devices in to that. It appears to cancel out whatever mismatch there is between the pi and NESPi USB hub.

It's a bit unsightful but it prevents a lot of re-imaging and reversion to a previous release. Hopefully a solution will be embedded in to the next release as the NESPi case is great!

*I have been successful using either an Insignia 4 port USB2.0 Hub (N5-PCH5420) and also with a Sabrent 4 port USB3.0 Hub (HB-MNBW). Not sure if a powered USB hub will do the same but worth a try before frustrating yourself to no avail looking for a solution.

My devices connected were a Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless adapter, and Logitech K400r wireless USB keyboard.

      Good luck out there..

Ok I did that command and I got used 5.4GB(10%) with 51GB available. So I guess I just misread the File Manager.

What prompted me to misread the File Manager I suppose would be when I was scraping games and got a disk full or something else(forget what now) error message. However, I SSH'd into the Pi during the Scrape operation and perhaps that caused that error message and made me paranoid.

No I'm still using a normal pi3 although I am considering getting the 3b+. Im starting to believe that it's the actual image at fault as wrote a new official image to this card and other cards I have without issues.
The strange thing is that win32 said it was read and completed fine. But now my backed up image seems to be 'broken' and unbootable when written to cards.
      Any ideas?

heya. yeah. havin no luck getting this chd convertor to work. i'm gonna keep trying, but so far, no dice. i can't even tell which version im running because the thing just crashes in wine.

      *EDIT

just got it to work. finally found a chd converter that worked in wine with gdi files. first one tested was ikaruga which came out to 73 mb (as you said). this is insane. just converting the 4 dreamcast games on my retropie to chd should free about 2 gigs.

      thanks again

I use a 2 TB USB drive. It runs right off the PI without any power issues. Entire PSX library is around 800gb. Why stop at 64? 😁

@dal1980 I am using the 3.5mm jack for both Audio and Video. It's a 3.5mm Jack to RCA (Composite) cable. Also it's a CRT so my scanlines are natural. Not running any overlays at all.

Thanks btw. Will mess with it when I get some free time over the weekend.

      [Edit]
I guess I'll also add that I am running a script that switches resolution between ES and games. In order to read the ES Menu's it's running at 480p and my games are in 240p. Here is a link to the Guide I used.

If anybody comes accross this: Happened to me with version 4.6 (on raspbian buster), exactly same problem, like 3fps on all PS1 games. Tried different emulator (removed lr-pcsx-rearmed from main packages and tried pcsx-rearmed form optional). That ran well, but didn't see controller. So I decided to tweak with original lr-pcsx-rearmed, reinstalled it back and voilaaa, games at full speed. Don't know the reason, but for somebody just wishing running emulator it's worth trying I suppose.

@jackknife18846 the partition you're referring to is not recognised by Windows as it is a Linux partition. You can either put it into a Linux laptop to browse it, or use other methods of getting ROMS etc on (these are all in the official documentation).

You can use your local network to browse to the Pi and copy the ROMS that way, or us the USB copy method instead.

@paf said in Verification error when writing RetroPie on SD card:

      AFAIK

Verification errors tend to mean fake or bad cards. Here is my order:

      Format the card - SDFormatter

This is important and dont forget that some cards are not compatible with the pi. I have formatted other ways before and have found that success is hit and miss. This tends to work every time for me.

Download the retropie image for your chosen device either zero etc or 2/3 and unzip it to reveal the iso. If using Etcher - you do not need to unzip - have you tried this?

Using Win32disk imager, browse to the image and click write making sure that the correct drive letter is selected.

Boot. A solid red means fail. If your lights start blinking then look at these meanings

This is fast process. I have never had an issue. I use Sandisk cards 16-128GB and their own cradle - class 10 though, I find class 4 glitches for more intensive tasks. I have also used various usb sd card cradles. Can you describe your exact operations? Do you do this order?

@fabio78 said in Retropie 4.4 SD card images?:

Seems like a new version is only justifiable when there are enough updates containing meaningful changes accumulated since the last release, or some game-changer features

Or perhaps it's entirely dependent on when the devs have free time to work on it ;)

We don't have a regular release schedule to preserve our sanity.
